Spitting, swearing and vomiting, Punk was about as subtle as a runaway train and twice as destructive. It hit the music industry in 1976 - and from that moment, the business would never be the same again! Punk went back to the roots of Rock. Played out in basement clubs and bullet-proof boozers, it was raw and unsophisticated. Bands like the Damned, Sex Pistols, X-Ray Specs, Stranglers, Ramones, and Clash were dangerously anarchic and didn't give a damn. That's why Punk appealed to the growing army of disaffected kids who saw themselves as radical and cutting edge. Sadly, the anarchy had to end and for many people it finished, on February 1st 1979, when Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose in New York. He was just 21.
