Heavy Metal pictures

Heavy Metal pictures

Once there was Hard Rock, but Metal was introduced to describe the sound of Seventies bands such as AC/DC, Motorhead, early Queen, Rock & Roll pioneers such as Status Quo, the legendary Led Zeppelin, and Nineties Metal purveyors Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Van Halen. In the Nineties Grunge entered the vocabulary with such formidable talents as Soundgarden, The Stone Temple Pilots and notably Nirvana. On this site Poison, Faith No More, Corrosion of Conformity and Def Leppard mix it with Seventies veterans such as Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne, and Noughties supergroup Velvet Revolver.

Rock pictures

Rock pictures

This section features a broad mix - from The Who to David Bowie, the Police, and the immortal Queen. Stretching through the Seventies & Eighties are Dire Straits, Thin Lizzy, and the legendary Rolling Stones. I've added the solo skills of Sting, Bryan Adams, and Elvis Costello to create a gallery of great Rock musicians. The third decade introduces the Manic Street Preachers, INXS, The Cult, and Suede. Matching them for enduring appeal are Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, U2 and Paul McCartney. The Noughties introduce a new generation of bands such as Coldplay, Razorlight, Stereophonics and Bloc Party.

Pop pictures

Pop pictures

After the psychedelia of the 'Swinging Sixties', the Seventies were drab and monotone until The Police, Kiss, Jam and Abba entered the scene and musically continued to endure beyond the Millenium. In the Eighties Pop struck a rich vein of talent - DuranDuran, Spandau Ballet, Ian Dury, Adam Ant, and Bow Wow Wow are all to be found in this photographic roll call of honour. The Nineties was the era of 'Brit Pop', boy bands and girl power. Europe, East 17, Boyzone, Stereo MCs, Roxette, and of course, the Spice Girls and Robbie Williams take us into the Noughties, where legends such as Robbie Williams and Modonna continue to reign.

R&B pictures

R&B pictures

From its origins in Mississippi Blues, R&B has emerged as one of the primary influences on numerous Rock bands - especially the Rolling Stones. BB King John Lee Hooker were a couple of the many pioneers who fused mainstream Jazz, Soul and Country to create the distinctive R&B sound. This collection of images is a photographic tribute to the men and women who have continued to develop that musical legacy and adapt it to the 20th & 21st Century - Bob Marley, Ian Dury, George Melly, Fats Domino, Stereo MCs, Sting, Ben E King and 'Slowhand' Eric Clapton - are all featured in this unique picture gallery alongside newcomers Joss Stone and Ms Dynamite.

Punk pictures

Punk pictures

Spitting, swearing and vomiting, Punk was as subtle as a runaway train and twice as destructive. It hit the music industry in 1976, and from that moment, the business would never be the same! Punk went back to the roots of Rock. Played out in basement clubs and bullet-proof boozers, it was raw and unsophisticated. Bands like the Damned, Sex Pistols, X-Ray Specs, Stranglers, Ramones, and Clash were dangerously anarchic and didn't give a damn. Punk appealed to the growing army of disaffected kids who saw themselves as radical and cutting edge, but the anarchy had to end and for many people it finished, on February 1st 1979, when Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose in New York. He was just 21.

Celebrity pictures

Celebrity pictures

This section features photographs of the many personalities that I have photographed for celebrity magazines or met in the course of my rock assignments. Many are 'Celebs' in the truest and most glamorous sense of the word - Liz Hurley, Hugh Grant, Lady Georgina Murray (voted by 'Tatler' magazine as the most beautiful woman in Britain), the incomparable Marquis of Bath, the indomitable Barbara Cartland, milliner-extraordinaire Philip Treacy, socialite and aristocrat Henry Dent-Brocklehurst plus many more... Others - such as Zoe Ball and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson - are just fabulous, fun personalities that I've photographed for my personal collection or as part of my ground-breaking 'studio within a party' sessions for OK, and 'at home' for Hello.

Denis O'Regan Cuttings

Denis O'Regan Cuttings

I have a big old dusty box crammed full of memories and memorabilia. Here are just some of the cuttings collected from magazines and newspapers from all over the world. I've included them because I either like the layout or I'm pleased with the way the shots have been used - it's fun to see how different magazines in different countries treat my pictures. Launching late October 2003.

Denis O'Regan Travel pictures

In the course of a fairly interesting life, I have travelled extensively, and at times I've had the time to take a few photographs of subjects other than celebrities. This is where I've collected them. As I surf through my archive I'll continue to add new pictures - not all specifically travel related, but it's somewhere to show you pictures other than those that have earned me a living. I can't always remember when or precisely where some of these shots were taken, so occasionally details may be sketchy!
