This is a fun section, where I've digitally manipulated some of my photographs in Adobe Photoshop , which I've been using on my Apple Macs since Photoshop version 1.0 in 1990! I have only ever used Macs, and currently work on G5 Quad processor desktops with 23 inch aluminium Cinema Displays, and a 17 inch MacBook Pro laptop.
On the photographic front, historically I favoured Olympus equipment such as the legendary OM4, until 1987 when I switched to Minolta's pioneering autofocus cameras - and they said it would never catch on! After that it was Nikon all the way - F4 then F5 for conventional photography and most recently the Nikon D1X then D2X and D2Xs for digital work. I use a Belkin Firewire card reader to download images from 4 and 12 gigabyte cards to my G5, iPod, or MacBook Pro. My main scanner is a Nikon Coolscan 8000ED. I have also reinvested in film, and recently purchased a Nikon F6, which I use solely to shoot black & white.
On tour my film choice for live and backstage photography was Kodak Ektachrome and Tri-X, and Ilford's HP5 - on location I loved the rich colours of Fuji's Velvia. My first experience with a professional digital camera was using Nikon's D1 in 1999 at the MTV Awards in Dublin - and Paul McCartney's Cavern show, where pictures were uploaded to my secure press web site as I shot, in time to grace the front pages of all the morning papers. This was very innovative for its time.
My first digital camera was the compact Olympus Camedia back in 1997, and I briefly tested the 'digital from the ground up' Olympus E-1. I currently use only Nikon, apart from my wonderful compact Canon Ixus 900 Ti.
