This picture was taken at my first ever Punk gig. The year is 1977 and the venue Manor Hill school in North London. I hadn't shot that many live concerts but I was used to stage lighting, and Manor Hill provided none ... Making a feeble excuse that I'd left my flashgun at home when in fact I didn't even own one, I asked Chalkie Davies (NME's chief photographer) whether I could borrow his. He obliged, and suggested that I submit my pictures to the same paper. And so my career moved into a new era ... |
