I couldn't resist photographing this fire marshall in the pits at Italy's Imola race track during the 1995 Formula One San Marino Grand Prix. I was there with MTV, sponsors of the Simtek team.
There was an unusual atmosphere on the track that day - at the previous year's race driving legend Ayrton Senna was killed at the Tambarello curve. The day before Senna's crash, Simtek driver Roland Ratzenberger died at the Villeneuve corner during a high speed practice lap. No driver has died in Formula One since then. |
